Petroktisto Fish Restaurant
Reviewed by Matthew Stowell
If Petroktisto occupied beachfront real estate, you wouldn’t be able to secure a table without booking several days in advance. As it is located next to Ajax, a commercial traveller’s hotel near Linopetra, there is a good chance you’ll be seated for lunch or dinner, but it’s still better to phone ahead. The food is that good. Ioanna, from Famagusta, does all the cooking and she’s passionate about fish and obsessively dedicated to making her customers happy. Service is always efficient and might be friendly or Soviet-bloc grim, depending on which waitress you get, but an extra effort is always made in the kitchen for every dish on the menu, even the dips. The fish meze is the most popular but make sure you’re hungry before ordering. Wine selection is excellent and reasonably priced.
