Pyxida is Nicosia’s heavyweight seafood restaurant and one of the city’s premier locations for business meals and celebratory occasions. Opened in 2004, Pyxida has made a name for itself among the local glitterati, business people and seafood lovers. Their fish meze is plentiful but à la carte options are also available for those  patrons who would like to limit their caloric intake. Fish (snapper, mullet, sea bass and bream, among others) and crustaceans (lobster, prawns, crabs and crawfish) are priced by the kilo and, if one’s not careful when ordering, the check can escalate rather quickly. One of my personal favourites is their savory fish soup packed with flaky fish and fresh vegetables, a wonderful start to what in the end is a truly gourmet experience. A definite must for anyone who enjoys well-executed seafood fare and topnotch service.
